LONDONDERRY — The community continues to rally around Bella Tucker and her family, with multiple fundraisers planned over the summer months.

Among them are wristbands and Bella Bracelets, a Ride for Bella, Billiards for Bella at Jillian's in Manchester, a yard sale, a Bella Ball at Searles Castle, and a bake-and-craft sale by Matthew Thornton's fourth-grade class at Mack's Apples.

Bella, 8, is recovering from a severe infection that resulted in quadruple amputation in April. She spent two months at Boston Children's Hospital and was transferred to Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in early June, only to return to Children's with pneumonia.

Monday, she was transferred out of the Intensive Care Unit to a regular unit at Children's Hospital, her mom, Selena Roarty, said.

"She's doing better, but is frustrated with her progress," Roarty said.

While at Children's, Bella needed an additional surgery to remove leg bone that was growing too rapidly, Roarty said.

Bella, who just finished third grade at South Londonderry Elementary School, has a long recovery ahead of her and her home must be remodeled to accommodate her.

Many fundraisers have already taken place, including a radiothon at Mack's Apples with Frank106.3-FM that raised $40,000 and a kick-a-thon at the American Kenpo Academy that added another $10,000. A Bella Tucker Fund was set up at South School that continues to raise money.

A Ride for Bella fundraiser will take place Sunday, July 11, from Burgundy's Billiard Room in Derry.

The ride is being organized by Jason Weeden, who is also selling wristbands with on them for $5 apiece.

"I hope to raise $20,000 just with the wristbands," Weeden said. "Everyone wants to help this little girl and her family."

The ride leaves from Burgundy's at 35 Manchester Road in Derry at 10 a.m., and will last two to three hours. Registration is from 8 to 10 a.m. The fee to ride is $25 per motorcycle, $10 per passenger. A party will follow the ride and is free to riders; non-riders may pay a $10 donation at the door.
